ITS Artwork Award powered by Swatch Art Peace Hotel I March 2024
Thrilled to share that our collage ‚Vanishing Voices‘ won the ITS Artwork Award powered by Swatch Art Peace Hotel and is now on display at the ITS Arcademy ~ Museum of Art in Fashion in Trieste, Italy.
Furthermore, Ashley and Chelsea have been invited to Shanghai to participate in an art residency.
“Vanishing Voices” aims to spotlight endangered species whilst emphasizing their protection and celebrating the mesmerising beauty of nature.
A seemingly floating analogue paper collage crafted from recycled books and magazines, showcases flora and fauna at risk, according to @wwf (World Wildlife Fund, 2024). It seeks not to dwell on negativity but urges action amid climate change’s looming threats to the future of our planet. This celebratory piece raises awareness and encourages us to appreciate nature and its profound influence on humanity whilst simultaneously urging viewers to champion wildlife preservation.
The piece transcends its visually captivating front to reveal a lesser-seen aspect on the backside - a canvas adorned with the names of endangered species depicted in traditional calligraphy.
This ancient, almost extinct skill mirrors the plight of these animals, adding a layer of symbolism. It underlines the importance of safeguarding craftsmanship akin to preserving endangered species. As the calligraphy method faces extinction itself, it parallels the urgency to protect and revive disappearing art forms and the natural world alike.
This artwork demonstrates that every single living being has a unique story to tell and that we need to start listening to these “Vanishing Voices”.
