BODIES OF WORK
"Echoes of Eden" is a collaborative body of work by Chelsea Jean Lamm, analogue collage artist Ashley Elizabeth Lamm and mask artist Carina Shoshtary.
The collection imagines a future in which humanity, technology and the natural world exist not in harmony. Sculptural silhouettes and contemporary analogue collage converge to create speculative beings that question where the human ends and the artificial begins.
Rather than presenting technology as a force of replacement, Echoes of Eden explores its potential to extend human creativity, empathy and imagination. Through cyborg-inspired forms and handcrafted detail, the collection reflects on identity, coexistence and the possibility of a future where innovation remains inseparably connected to nature and the human touch.
AMALGAMARE marked the beginning of Chelsea Jean Lamm's artistic practice and the first collaboration with contemporary artist Ashley Elizabeth Lamm. Developed as Chelsea's graduate collection at AMD Academy for Fashion and Design, it introduced the interdisciplinary process of translating Ashley's analogue paper collages into sculptural wearable artworks, a methodology that continues to define the atelier today.
Created during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and shaped by the loss of the sisters' grandmother, the collection gradually transformed into an exploration of imagination as a response to grief. Futuristic beings existing between human, animal and machine became symbols of resilience, hope and transformation, laying the foundations for what would later become Visual Optimism as Resistance.
